Az ajtóban megállva végignézhetem
Azt, hogy hol ért véget az eddigi életem.
És megtehetem,
Hogy nem cipelem,
Ami nem kell, azt nem viszem.

Anyám sírt egy kicsit, Apám hallgatott,
A barátok is mondtak néhány mondatot:
- Ugye, jelentkezel,
Majd, ha megérkezel,
Írsz, amikor már megleszel?

De azt a régi zenét, ami annyira szép,
Hogy fáj a szívem, és nem is hiszem,
Hogy elfeledem
A nyár melegét, az őszi erdő színét,
A két szemedet, ahogy felém nevet:
- Isten veled!-
S a fülembe súgja, hogy többé már nem szeret.

S most, hogy újra játszom felnőtt életet,
Idegenben festek otthoni képeket
De a mindennapok...
Mikor magam vagyok -
Kicsit mindig meghalok...

Standing in the doorway, I take one last look around,
At where my life, as I knew it, has ended, on this ground.
And I can choose to leave behind,
Not to carry the weight,
What's unnecessary, I won't take with me, no fate.

Mother shed a few tears, Father stood in silence deep,
Friends offered a few words, promises they'd hope to keep:
- "You'll write to us, won't you, lad?
When you arrive, safe and glad,
Let us know when you're settled, bad or good, sad or mad?"

But that old familiar melody, so beautiful and bright,
Makes my heart ache so, I can hardly bear the sight,
And I don't think I'll forget,
The summer's warmth, the autumn forest, colors I can't regret,
Your two eyes, the way they smiled at me, so sweet and true,
- "Goodbye!"-
You whispered in my ear, that you no longer love me, it's through.

And now, as I play the role of an adult once again,
In a foreign land, I paint pictures of home, where we've been.
But the everyday moments sting,
When I'm alone with everything -
A little part of me dies, within.
