A minha geração, já se calou, já se perdeu, já amuou,
Já se cansou, desapareceu, ou então casou, ou então mudou
Ou então morreu: já se acabou.

A minha geração de hedonistas e de ateus, de anti-clubistas,
De anarquistas, deprimidos e de artistas e de autistas
Estatelou-se docemente contra o céu.

A minha geração ironizou o coração, alimentou a confusão
Brincou às mil revoluções amando gestos e protestos e canções,
Pelo seu estilo controverso.

A minha geração, só se comove com excessos, com hecatombes,
Com acessos de bruta cólera, de morte, de miséria, de mentiras,
De reflexos da sua funda castração.

A minha geração é a herdeira do silêncio,
Dos grandes paizinhos do céu,
Da indecência, do abuso.
E um belo dia esqueceu tudo e fez-se à vida,
Na cegueira do comércio

A minha geração é toda a minha solidão, é flor da ausência, sonho vão,
Aparição, presságio, fogo de artifício, toda vício, toda boca
E pouca coisa na mão.

Vai minha geração, ergue a cabeça e solta os teus filhos no esplendor do lixo e do descuido,
Deixa-te ir enquanto o sabor acre da desistência vai corroendo a doçura da sua infância.
Vai minha geração, reage, diz que não é nada assim,
Que é um lamentável engano, erro tipográfico, estatística imprecisa, puro preconceito,
Que o teu único defeito é ter demasiadas qualidades e tropeçar nelas.

Vai minha geração, explica bem alto a toda a gente
Que és por demais inteligente, para sujar as mãos neste velho processo, triste traste de Deus.
De fingir que o nosso destino é ser um bocadinho melhor do que antes.
Vai minha geração, nasceste cansada, mimada, doente, por tudo e por nada, com medo de ser inventada
O que é que te falta, agora que não te falta nada?
Poderá uma pobre canção contribuir para a tua regeneração ou só te resta morrer desintegrada?

Mas minha geração,
Valeu a trapaça, até teve graça, tanta conversa, tanta utopia tonta, tanto copo, e a comida estava óptima! O que vamos fazer?

My generation has fallen silent, it has been lost, it has become sullen,
It has grown weary, disappeared, or else married, or else moved
Or else died: it has come to an end.

My generation of hedonists and atheists, of anti-club members,
Of anarchists, depressives and artists and autists
It crashed sweetly against the sky.

My generation ridiculed the heart, fed confusion
It played at a thousand revolutions loving gestures and protests and songs,
For its controversial style.

My generation is only moved by excesses, by hecatombs,
By fits of brute anger, of death, of misery, of lies,
Of reflections of their deep castration.

My generation is the heiress of silence,
Of the great heavenly fathers,
Of indecency, of abuse.
And one fine day it forgot everything and went on with life,
In the blindness of commerce

My generation is all my solitude, it is the flower of absence, a vain dream,
Apparition, omen, fireworks, all vice, all mouth
And little in hand.

Go, my generation, raise your head and let your children loose in the splendor of garbage and neglect,
Let yourself go while the bitter taste of giving up corrodes the sweetness of your childhood.
