Proč se mnou nikdo nechce diskutovat o sonetech Karla Hynka Máchy
To bych se vážně nezlobil
Rozebírat s tebou Máchův trochej
Jenomže ty chceš podpis nebo fotku na mobil
A když bych ti ho nedal tak jsem frajer plochej
Já chci poezii,
Jen trochu pochopení
Ale tu, kde žiji,
Nic z toho není
Co mám ze života,
Samé přízemnosti
Mé srdce Don Quijota
Tím trpí dosti
Všichni po mně chtějí prachy nebo fotku
Proč se mnou nikdo nechce rozebírat jakou nejlíp koupit maringotku
Chtěl bych běžet letním šerem
Nafukovat její čtyři kola
Zapřáhnout koně a pak zmizet někam do daleka jižním směrem
Kde se jedí banány a pije Coca-Cola
Já chci poezii,
Jen trochu pochopení
Ale tu, kde žiji,
Nic z toho není
Co mám ze života,
Samé přízemnosti
Mé srdce Don Quijota
Tím trpí dosti
Všichni po mně chtějí vlastně strašně málo
Aby to šlo, aby to hrálo, aby to fungovalo
Já ale nejsem Mikuláš
Já nejsem agent české kampeličky
Klidně ti dám dvacku na guláš
A tobě hodím stovku do krabičky
Na všecky ty dětské domovy a na Afriku
Na lidi co hladoví a na popravy politiků
Rozpuštění NATO, ale za to
Já chci poezii,
Jen trochu pochopení
Ale tu, kde žiji,
Nic z toho není

I Want Poetry

Everyone wants an autograph or money from me
Why doesn't anyone want to talk about sonnets by Karel Hynek Mácha with me
I really wouldn't mind
Discussing Mácha's trochee with you
But you just want an autograph or a picture for your phone
And if I don't give it to you, I'm a stuck-up snob
I want poetry,
Just a little understanding
But where I live,
There's none of that
What do I get out of life,
Nothing but mundane things
My Don Quixote heart,
It suffers greatly
Everyone wants money or a picture from me
Why doesn't anyone want to talk about the best way to buy a camper van
I want to run in the twilight
Pumping up its four tires
Harnessing the horses and then disappearing somewhere far away to the south
Where they eat bananas and drink Coca-Cola
I want poetry,
Just a little understanding
But where I live,
There's none of that
What do I get out of life,
Nothing but mundane things
My Don Quixote heart,
It suffers greatly
All anyone wants from me is pretty much nothing,
Just to make things work, to play, to function
But I'm not Santa Claus
I'm not an agent for the Czech savings bank
I'll gladly give you twenty bucks for some goulash
And I'll toss you a hundred into the collection box
For all the orphanages and for Africa
For the people who are starving and for the executions of politicians
The disbandment of NATO, but for that
I want poetry,
Just a little understanding
But where I live,
There's none of that
What do I get out of life,
Nothing but mundane things
