Der alte Mann und das Meer

Er sitzt nun schon seit Jahren
Am Steg und schaut übers Meer.
Der Seemann muss eigentlich weiter,
Der Abschied fällt ihm schwer.
Ich frag ihn auf wen er wartet,
Er sagt der Käpt'n lässt sich Zeit.
Dennzum nächsten Hafen
Sei der Weg noch ziemlich weit.

Erst wenn die Gletscher schmelzen,
Da hätten sie freie Fahrt.
Der Frühling lässt auf sich warten,
Der Winter hält sich ziemlich hart.
Er hat die Welt schon umrundet
Und jeden Ozean überquert.
Und meint:
Junge wenn ich dort strande, t du der erste der's erfährt.Nur noch ein paar Meilen,
Dann hab ich's geschafft.
Ich setz schon mal die Segel
Und bündele meine Kraft.
Auf zu neuen Ufern
Den Sternen immer hinterher.
Der alte Mann darf bald nach Hause,
Hinter die Sonne, hinters Meer.
Weit hinters Meer.

Die Nebelschwaden verdampfen,
Die See ruht spiegelglatt.
Man hört den Käpt'n rufen:
Seemann, wir sind am Start.
Er hebt die müden Beine,
Die Koffer lässt er einfach stehen.
Und sagt:
Ich fahr dann schon mal vor
Und hoff, dass wir uns drüben sehen.Nur noch ein paar Meilen,
Dann hab ich's geschafft.
Ich setz schon mal die Segel
Und bündele meine Kraft.
Auf zu neuen Ufern
Den Sternen immer hinterher.
Der alte Mann darf bald nach Hause,
Hinter die Sonne, hinters Meer.

The Old Man and the Sea

He has been sitting here for years now
On the pier, looking out over the sea.
The sailor actually has to go on,
The farewell is hard for him.
I ask him who he is waiting for,
He says the captain is taking his time.
Because to the next port
The way is still quite long.

Only when the glaciers melt,
Then they would have free passage.
Spring is slow in coming,
Winter is holding on pretty hard.
He has already circumnavigated the world
And crossed every ocean.
And says:

The fog dissipates,
The sea is calm and glassy.
You can hear the captain calling:
Sailor, we're ready to go.
He lifts his weary legs,
He just leaves his suitcase.
And says:
I'll go ahead
And hope we see each other over there. Just a few more miles,
Then I've made it.
