Pensei que fosse um galope, um sonho de-à-trote,
Acariciando de toda esta milonga sem rima,
Que enrudilhada nas clinas, rejeita tudo que sobra...
Podia ser de-à-cavalo, este entono de galo,
Este manejo de freio, este olhar de posseiro,
Que amadrinhado nos tentos, estima o suor que lhe sobra.
Pensei que fossemos cúmplices, múltiplos, meigoa,
Mansos, soltos, vagos, cabeça de gado,
Potro e rodeio, na leva dos aremates...
Pensei que fossemos caça, várea, rio cheio,

Podia haver mais um catre, uma rodada de mate,

Pensei que fossemos fruto, suco, bagaço,
Lenha, coivara, verde, queimada,
Na alienação das porteiras do mata-burro a estrada!
Pensei que fossemos bando, nômades, músicos,
Mouros e manos, fulanos sicranos,
Sábios paisanos no despertar da manada!

A night, an affection, a discovered crush,
