If you've heard the tale of the maidens of the north
Who take charge of things under the water's surface
These sisters of the goddess of the air laugh in the rapids
They ring in the brooks, plough the riverbeds

They make gardens for the sons of trout
Playgrounds for graylings, for small brooks
In the morning twilight they appear before sleepy eyes
They let you gaze but they won't get caught on film

They always wait for me on the banks of the rapids
