A Rose Has Sprung
From a tender root
As the ancients sung
From Jesse sprung the race
And hath a flower brought
In the midst of cold winter
At the middle of the night
That Rose, of which I sing
Of whom Isaiah said
Is Mary the pure one
Who brought us that flower
From God's eternal counsel
She bore a child
And remained a pure maid
That little flower
Which scents us so sweetly
With its bright light
Drives away the darkness
True man and true God
Helps us out of all suffering
Saves from sin and death
