Nad svátečním pitím čekáš, kdy už chytím
Kdy už jiskra přeskočí
Náhle mezi řečí ve tmě ruka něčí
Zlatým klíčkem otočí

Stává se to zřídka, čas jak stará zídka
Na prášek se rozdrolí
Pán se dvorně klaní, k tanci vyzve paní
Roztáčí se soukolí

Pán se stále klaní roztančené paní
Nic jinýho neumí

Ona se jen usmívá
Ve strojku to chřestí, zvonivýho štěstí
Pomaloučku ubývá

Poslední dvě noty zpité do němoty
Mizí na dně skleniček
Pán se ohnul v pase, a tak skončila se

Over celebratory drinks, you wait for me to get a spark
When will it ignite?
Suddenly in the dark, amid the chatter, someone's hand
Turns the golden key

It happens so rarely, time like an old wall
Crumbling to dust
The gentleman bows gracefully, and invites the lady to dance
The gears start turning

They vanish into the distance, up into the clouds, dissolving into vapor

The gentleman keeps bowing to the dancing lady
