My dear sisters, hear this story,
A sad and unfortunate one that I once heard
Of a Christian soul who has returned to sin,

But suddenly an evil arrow

My Lord, why is this soul
Sunk in sin and covered in evil?
If he preached and saved souls,

He is no longer the nightingale that once sang,
The missionary who once carried
The blessed news of the Holy Word,
The holy gospel of God.
We must be alert, we must be watchful,
For the enemy walks around us.
