Tintinea el clavel de la tarde
cuando busca tu boca mi adiós
serpentea el cascabel de la siesta
y allí mismo plantamos la flor
de esa flor que ni lágrimas quedan
se han ido en el viento de mi corazón.

En la huella perdida del tiempo
se apagó de a poquito el fogón
volarán las cenizas del alma
con el último grito del sol
y el arroyo Jagüel de La Pampa
arrimará un aura pidiendo por vos.

Y así será tiempo ayer
imposible volver, regresar
no murió pero está
congelado en el fondo del mar
sin estar siempre estás
en las cumbres de mi soledad.

Si el silencio estuviera callado
cuando grita en las noches sin voz
si arrojara por esos barrancos
el salitre de la desazón
si el infame temblor de los tiempos
no abriera la tierra me iría con vos.

Se desgaja de olvidos el sauce
y ni un nidito en mi cruz
se hace lecho la nieve en el patio
y hasta un fondo de escarcha tejió
se desboca en el jinete del trueno
silbando la muerte hace un rato pasó.

The carnation of the evening tinkles
