Silenced Sight

A whole country runs on reserve,
Only filling up for a fiver.
We'll only stop when we die,
And otherwise, we'll always keep moving, just so we don't look stupid
Standing close, yet distant from others.
Every day is Monday morning, even if we're watching TV on Saturday night.
We see that nothing gets bigger than the hearts' obsession with thinness,
Triggered by gluttony that arrived when empathy left,
With the first one who took his share and went.
And otherwise, war is just another thing we don't want,
But we walk over corpses.
Apparently, it's better for the spine
While brains are foaming, sounds are ringing,
Palestine's fences, your dreams, twin towers,
Without a doubt,
We are just a sponge from morning till night that nobody squeezes.
We apply for asylum in anonymity,
Wishing we were a gram of heroin that everyone presses.
But we're too strong for help, too cool for love,
And that's why

Our eyes are closed during the day,
At night, you have them open.
This is our view of things,
Sleepless.

What should we do? We laugh at hope,
Act concerned about what doesn't really affect any of us,

And that's why we retreat into sleep
Every evening and see the apple untouched again in the Garden of Eden.
No more guilt within us, and we have someone to talk to,
But not every idea needs discussion anymore.
And the stranger's shoulder we look at critically during the day
Becomes a comforting refuge at night that we'll never have to miss again.
Because the veil of loneliness is gone,
And the flag of hope is no longer at half-mast.
Half-naked, we lie in bed and curse what scares us,
Get acquainted with good things after a bad day.
Because everyday worries, aka anxieties about the future, are forgotten,
All who feel like us gather together,
And we've long been ready for the next crusade of motivation.
We are sure it's worth it.
They say sleep is the cousin of death, but I see so much beauty in it.
Ask me how beautiful death must be then.
