هر گه که بنفشه جامه در رنگ زند،
در دامنِ گل بادِ صبا چنگ زند،
هشیار کسی بُوَد که، با سیمْبَری
می نوشد و جام باده بر سنگ زند.
بنگر ز صبا دامن گل چاک شده
بلبل ز جمال گل طربناک شده
در سایه گل نشین که بسیار این گل
ازخاک برآمده ست و برخاک شده
یاران به مرافقت چو دیدار کنید،
باید که زِ دوست یاد بسیار کنید؛
چون بادهٔ خوشگوار نوشید به هم،
نوبت چو به ما رسد نگونسار کنید.
من بی می ناب زیستن نتوانم
بی باده کشید بارتن نتوانم
من بنده آن دمم که ساقی گوید
یک جام دگر بگیر و من نتوانم

The flower's garment

Whenever the violet puts on its colored dress,
The morning breeze plays the harp in the lap of the flower,
He who enjoys life, plays with a silver harp,
Drinks wine, and smashes the goblet on a rock.
Look, the morning breeze has torn the skirt of the flower,
The nightingale is delighted by the beauty of the flower,
Sit under the shade of the flower, for this very flower
Has risen from the earth and become dust.
My friends, when you visit with each other,
You should remember your friend often;
When you drink delicious wine together,
When it is my turn, drink to my health.
I cannot live without pure wine,
I cannot bear the burden of my body without wine,
I am the slave of that moment when the cupbearer says,
Take another cup, and I cannot refuse.
