بعد يومين طوال قرر ينزل بين الناس

قعد على قهوة قابل عجوز مسميينه الخال
سأله مالك يا إبني شايل هم الدنيا لوحدك
رد نسيت الناس و الناس نسيتني إيه اللي يضحك
ضحك الخال الواد إتنرفز سأله إيه مشكلتي تافهة
رد يا إبني انا إبني رماني في الشارع إديني مرضك لفه
في الآخر خده يكشفله و قاله يا إبني ثق في الله
و الدكتور طمنه هتفتكر بالوقت و العلاج
رجع بيته و حبس نفسه لمدة أسبوعين
أدوية و تمرينات ذاكره بالكاد إفتكر شيئ
قبل ما ينهار عصبيا قال ينزل يرغي مع الخال
قعد مستنيه عالقهوة و زهق بعد تالت شاي
سأل القهوجي عليه رد القهوجي بكره غريب
الخال ربنا إفتكره و الله ما أعرف ليه ناسيك
طلع محفظته يحاسب كان زعلان قد ما مذهول
وقعت من محفظته صورة الخال بمعني أصح أبوه
اللي ناسي بيجري ورا ماضيه و لو دقيقة دقيقة
و اللي فاكر نفسه يبدل الحقيقة بصفحة جديدة
لو قدامك فرصة تصلح غلطة متسيبهاش

Straight No Chaser

I woke up one day with no memory of my life.
I asked myself who I was and began searching for answers.
In my closet, I found a picture of a lifelong friend named Muhammad.
As I thought about him, more memories came flooding back.
I grabbed my phone and found his number, calling him without hesitation.
My friend answered, exclaiming, "Oh, my friend! Where have you been all this time?"
I replied, "I've lost my memory. That's why I called."
Tell me how this happened. You've been through a lot.
After hanging up, I asked myself again, who am I?
I searched for answers and found a ring with a note underneath it.
I picked up the note and began to read:
It's hard for me to accept not being a mother. I hope you understand.
I broke everything in sight in a fit of rage.
Where am I? Where am I? I realized that this wasn't the solution and surrendered.
I surrounded myself with memories of my wife as if she were still here.
Yes, I've forgotten much, but I remembered my love for her.
Forgetting can be a disease or a blessing in our lives, depending on our perspective.
Most of our memories are heavy burdens; forgetting them is a relief.
We have taken the easy way out and ignored the voice of our conscience.
We often indulge in desires now at the expense of our future.

FORGETTING CAN BE A DISEASE OR A BLESSING IN OUR LIVES, DEPENDING ON OUR PERSPECTIVE.
MOST OF OUR MEMORIES ARE HEAVY BURDENS; FORGETTING THEM IS A RELIEF.
WE HAVE TAKEN THE EASY WAY OUT AND IGNORED THE VOICE OF OUR CONSCIENCE.
WE OFTEN INDULGE IN DESIRES NOW AT THE EXPENSE OF OUR FUTURE.

After a couple of days, I decided to go out in public.

I sat down at a coffee shop and met an old man called Khalil.
He asked me, "My son, why are you carrying the weight of the world on your shoulders?"
I replied, "I have forgotten the people, and they have forgotten me. What's there to laugh about?"
Khalil laughed. I became annoyed and asked, "Is my problem so trivial?"
He answered, "My son, my son left me on the streets. Give me your disease, and I'll take it on myself."
Eventually, he examined me and said, "My son, put your trust in God."
The doctor assured me that I would regain my memory with time and treatment.
I went home and isolated myself for two weeks.
With medication and memory exercises, I gradually began to remember things.
Before I could break down completely, I decided to go out and vent to Khalil.
As I sat waiting at the coffee shop, I grew impatient after three cups of tea.
I asked the server about him, and he replied, "He's been gone for a long time."
Khalil, God must have taken him. God knows why he made you forget me.
I took out my wallet to pay, feeling sad and bewildered.
A picture of Khalil fell out of my wallet—it was, in fact, my father.
The one who forgot is chasing his past, one minute at a time.
And the one who remembers is trying to replace reality with a new page.
If you have a chance to fix a mistake, don't let it go.
Others have waited too long to realize that life doesn't wait for us.

THE ONE WHO FORGOT IS CHASING HIS PAST, ONE MINUTE AT A TIME.
AND THE ONE WHO REMEMBERS IS TRYING TO REPLACE REALITY WITH A NEW PAGE.
