Aber das Meer bleibt immer gleich
Ich kann nichts davon besitzen
Trotzdem fühl' ich mich so reich
Neben mir schaut in die Ferne
Ein blond gelocktes Kind

Nur Museumsinseln sind.

Ich bin hier nicht zuhaus

Als wir uns trennen in der Nacht
Sie sagt sie würde darauf wetten
Aber sie hätt's niemals gemacht.

I stare a hole into her clouds

Further and further down the beach.

I can't own any of it

Next to me, gazing into the distance
A blonde-haired child
And tells me that all places
Are just museum islands.

I'm not at home here
Oh, I just look through my eyes into the foreign land

With something that doesn't exist

And I walk along the coast
The wind blows in my face
Night falls and nearby
Burns a bright, red light
There, wanderers sit around a fire
And I get drunk with them
And they build a monster
From canisters full of gasoline.

The next day we go to the train station
And wait for the train
But whenever one pulls in
They just raise their hats
I discuss for many hours
At some point, I have to understand
That they would rather talk about it
Instead of actually leaving.

Then I ask her: "Will we see each other again?"
As we part ways in the night
She says she would bet on it
But she would never have done it.

She's not at home here
She also just looks through her eyes into the foreign land

With something that doesn't exist

Now I stand again at the coast
And it's different than it was
The blonde child sits on the dune
And plays with her hair
And she paints a direction for me
With her fingers in the sand
And I follow it in my thoughts
Further and further down the beach.
