Bostezas. Te acurrucas pero, al minuto, tu madre te llama.

Decides omitir la ducha. Piensas Bah, ni quién se fije.
Tu pereza es ahora mucha. Caminas. A la cocina te diriges.
Te topas con un desayuno caliente y no percibes su olor.
Estás más dormido que despierto; presa todavía del sopor.

Y se te hace tarde. Así que prefieres no probar bocado.
Das unos cuantos pasos y te instalas enfrente del lavabo.
Con agua abundante enjuagas tu cara, y en el espejo te contemplas.
Examinas tu perfil: primero el derecho, luego el de la izquierda.

Ahí no estaba esa espinilla, comentas para tus adentros;

Aún hay oportunidad para irte a trabajar en autobús;

Cargas tu mochila. Tu despedida es desabrida.

Inicia tu caminata. A la esquina te vas acercando,

Los discman. Pero qué pendejo, te dices. Das media vuelta.
Los rescatas de un sillón y los metes directo en tu maleta.

No dispones del mismo tiempo y sales más de prisa.

Y te empiezas a desesperar: no divisas ni un camión
Ni un taxi ni un amigo que de suerte pase y te dé un aventón.

Veinte minutos después abordas una unidad colectiva.

One of Those Days

You open your eyes. You see the clock: Seven in the morning.
You yawn. You snuggle up but, after a minute, your mother calls you.
She tells you to get up and not to forget to make your bed.
You reluctantly get up, thinking about the day ahead.

That one that waits for you, patiently and with a smiling face;
The same one that feeds you, dresses you, pampers you and agrees with you...
But you hate it. It's one of the targets of your nonconformity
With your surroundings, with the world you live in by chance.

You decide to skip the shower. You think Bah, nobody will even notice.
Your laziness is strong now. You walk. You head to the kitchen.
You come across a hot breakfast and you don't perceive its smell.
You're more asleep than awake; still in the grip of drowsiness.

And you're running late. So you prefer not to have a bite.
You take a few steps and stand in front of the sink.
With plenty of water you wash your face, and you look at yourself in the mirror.
You examine your profile: first the right, then the left.

That pimple wasn't there, you say to yourself;
As you turn the knob to leave right now.
You get your things ready. A uniform is your attire.
Same thing again, you think, tired of the daily routine.

There's still a chance to go to work by bus;
According to the clock, you'd arrive on time as long as the street remains the same: without light.
You load up your backpack. Your farewell is blunt.
