Ich wurd′ in Ulm geboren
Vor neunundzwanzig Jahr'n
Meine Mutter war ′ne liebe Frau
Das war mir sofort klar.
Sie gab' mir gleich mein Fläschchen
Ich lag an ihrer Brust
Das Fläschchen fand ich riesig toll
Denn ich hab' gleich gewußt:
Da ist bestimmt ein Gnubbel dran
An dem man richtig rubbeln kann
So′n Gnubbel rund und fein
Ja so′n Gnubbel muß schon sein.
Dann mußte ich zur Schule
Ich konnte nichts dafür
Stand meistens nur im Klassenbuch
Oder draußen vor der Tür.
Ich liebte meine Lehrerin
Sie liebte nur Physik
Dabei sah sie wie die Monroe aus
Und war auch sonst sehr schick.
Und da war'n auch so Gnubbel dran
Wo man so richtig rubbeln kann
So′n Gnubbel rund und fein
Na ja
Es sollte wohl nicht sein.
Dann kam ich in die Lehre
Zu 'nem Bauern auf die Farm
Der Bauer war sehr freundlich -
Nahm mich gleich in den Arm.
Er sagte: Das ist hier ganz leicht
Das begreifst du hier im Nu
Als Erstes kommt was Einfaches:
Melk′ doch 'mal diese Kuh.
Ich fragte: ist da denn auch ein Gnubbel dran
Wo man so richtig rubbeln kann?
So′n Gnubbel rund und fein
Da fing die Kuh gleich an zu schrei'n.
Auf der Farm traf ich ein Mädel
Ich liebte sie gar sehr
Ich wollte sie gern küssen
Doch sie
Sie wollte mehr.
Es war für mich das erste Mal
Sie streichelte mein Knie.
Ich rief: Elfriede
Laß das
Ich hab' nämlich noch nie.
Sie sagte: Was
Ist da denn gar kein Gnubbel dran
Wo man so richtig rubbeln kann?
So′n Gnubbel rund und fein
Ja
Der muß doch da irgendwo sein.
Ich ging darauf zur Prüfung
Ich wollt den Führerschein
Der Prüfer war sehr mutig
Stieg mit ins Auto ein.
Ich spielte an den Knöpfen
Und tutete das Horn -
Bremse treten
Rief der Prüfer
LKW von vorn.
Ich sagte: Bremse? Ist da denn auch ein Gnubbel dran
Wo man so richtig rubbeln kann?
So′n Gnubbel rund und fein
Da fuhr der Laster in uns rein.
Ich wachte auf in Krankenhaus
Mit Schläuchen zugeklebt
Die Krankenschwester flüsterte:
Ich glaub' nicht
Daß er noch lebt.
Der Arzt sagte: Doch
Der schafft das schon
Er hat nur ein wenig Pech -
Früher hatte er ′nen Gnubbel
Der ist jetzt leider weg.

The Knob

I was born in Ulm
Twenty-nine years ago
My mother was a dear woman
That was clear to me right away.
She gave me my bottle right away
I lay at her breast
I thought the bottle was great
Because I knew right away:
There must be a knob on it
That you can really rub on
Such a knob, round and fine
Yeah, such a knob has to be there.
Then I had to go to school
It wasn't my fault
I was mostly just in the class register
Or outside the door.
I loved my teacher
She only loved physics
She looked like Monroe
And was also very chic.
And there were also such knobs on her

It wasn't meant to be.
Then I went into apprenticeship
To a farmer on the farm
The farmer was very friendly -
He took me right into his arms.
He said: This is very easy here
You'll understand it here in no time
First comes something simple:
Milk this cow.
I asked: is there a knob on it
Where you can really rub?
Such a knob, round and fine
Then the cow started to scream.
On the farm I met a girl
I loved her very much
I wanted to kiss her
But she
She wanted more.
It was the first time for me
She stroked my knee.
I called: Elfriede
Stop that
I've never done that before.
She said: What
Isn't there a knob on it
Where you can really rub?
Such a knob, round and fine
Yes
It must be there somewhere.
I then went to the exam
I wanted my driver's license
The examiner was very brave
He got into the car with me.
I played with the buttons
And honked the horn -
Hit the brake
The examiner shouted
Truck from the front.
I said: Brake? Is there a knob on it
Where you can really rub?
Such a knob, round and fine
Then the truck crashed into us.
I woke up in the hospital
Covered in tubes
The nurse whispered:
I don't think
He's still alive.
The doctor said: Yes
He'll make it
He's just a little unlucky -
He used to have a knob
It's unfortunately gone now.
