Bačve su se rasušile

Tratili smo snagu

Jude vuku luši
Ne sade, ne siju
Maslina se suši
A loze nan gnjiju.
Niko neće da pobere
Rogač ča kraj puta stoji
Kiša s vitron smokvu pere
Tovar reve, asfalt gnoji.
To su muke i kaštigi
Blitvu, kupus, koromače
Kupujemo u butigi

The barrels have dried up
Rain is dripping through the roof
The jars are all empty
Mice are running in the pantry.
Ruzina has nibbled away at everything
All the scythes and axes
Blackberries have taken over
All the fences and borders.
Everything has gone to hell
Overgrown with grass
We wasted our strength
Where did our sense go.
The Jews make pickles
They don't plant or sow
The olive trees are drying up
And the vines are rotting.
No one wants to harvest them
The carob tree stands by the road
Rain and wind batter the fig
The donkey brays, the asphalt is manure.
These are the torments and punishments
Swiss chard, cabbage, fennel
We buy in the deli
