Tenteando a sorte na veia de um a taita.
Chinocas altivas vão entreveradas
Com a madrugada mesclada ao floreio
O que mais arrima a peonada xucra
É ver as gauchas em meio ao sarandeio.

Surungo gaudério há anos curtido
Velho chão batido pai desta querência
Galopando almas de raiz campeira
Trilha fandangueira de uma consciência.

No poncho da noite me sinto um monarca
Falquejando a marca que o gaiteiro toca
Num fandango bueno dou mostra do couro
Com o meu tesouro aromando chinoca.
A vida me deu cinco coisas belas
A doce donzela e o meu chimarrão
E um trago de pura e um bochincho guapo
