Louis war mein liebster Freund,
kämpfte im ANZAC-Schützengraben.
Louis rannte aus der Linie hervor
und ich sah ihn nie wieder.

Später, im Dunkeln,
glaubte ich, Louis' Stimme zu hören,
die nach seiner Mutter rief, dann nach mir,
aber ich konnte nicht zu ihm gelangen.
