I Am the True Vine

I am the true vine, and my Father is the husbandman.
Every branch in me that beareth not fruit he taketh away:
And every branch that beareth fruit, he purgeth it,
That it may bring forth more fruit.
Now ye are clean through the word which I have spoken unto you.
Abide in me, and I in you.
As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself,
Except it abide in the vine; no more can ye, except ye abide in me.
I am the vine, ye are the branches:
He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit:
For without me ye can do nothing.
If a man abide not in me, he is cast forth as a branch, and is withered;
And men gather them, and cast them into the fire, and they are burned.
If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will,
And it shall be done unto you.
Herein is my Father glorified, that ye bear much fruit;
So shall ye be my disciples.
As the Father hath loved me, so have I loved you:
Continue ye in my love.
If ye keep my commandments, ye shall abide in my love;
Even as I have kept my Father's commandments, and abide in his love.
These things have I spoken unto you, that my joy might remain in you,
And that your joy might be full.
This is my commandment, That ye love one another,
As I have loved you.
Greater love hath no man than this,
That a man lay down his life for his friends.
Ye are my friends, if ye do whatsoever I command you.

Ich bin der wahre Weinstock, und mein Vater ist der Weingärtner.
Eine jede Rebe an mir, die keine Frucht bringt, nimmt er weg;
Und eine jede, die Frucht bringt, reinigt er,
Dass sie mehr Frucht bringe.
Ihr seid schon rein um des Wortes willen, das ich zu euch geredet habe.
Bleibet in mir und ich in euch.
Wie die Rebe keine Frucht bringen kann aus sich selbst,
Es sei denn, sie bleibe am Weinstock, so auch ihr nicht, es sei denn, ihr bleibet in mir.
Ich bin der Weinstock, ihr seid die Reben.
Wer in mir bleibt und ich in ihm, der bringt viel Frucht;
Denn ohne mich könnt ihr nichts tun.
Wenn jemand nicht in mir bleibt, der wird weggeworfen wie eine Rebe und verdorrt,
Und man sammelt sie und wirft sie ins Feuer, und sie müssen brennen.
Wenn ihr in mir bleibt und meine Worte in euch bleiben, so werdet ihr bitten, was ihr wollt,
Und es wird euch widerfahren.
Darin wird mein Vater verherrlicht, dass ihr viel Frucht bringt;
So werdet ihr meine Jünger sein.
Wie mich mein Vater liebt, so liebe ich euch auch.
Bleibt in meiner Liebe, meine Geliebte.
Wenn ihr meine Gebote haltet, so bleibt ihr in meiner Liebe,
Gleichwie ich meines Vaters Gebote halte und bleibe in seiner Liebe.
Das habe ich zu euch geredet, auf dass meine Freude in euch bleibe
Und eure Freude vollkommen werde.
Das ist mein Gebot, dass ihr einander liebt,
Wie ich euch geliebt habe.
Niemand hat größere Liebe als die,
Dass er sein Leben lässt für seine Freunde.
Ihr seid meine Freunde, wenn ihr tut, was ich euch gebiete.
