Stell dir vor, Du wirst geboren, irgendwo frei wie der Wind,
Wär dein Leben nicht verloren, noch bevor es recht beginnt?
Nutzlos wären deine Tage, all dein Tun wär ohne Ziel,
Verstehst du jetzt das ist die Frage, nur gemeinsam sind wir viel.
Arbeit ist das halbe Leben, das liegt halt bei uns so drin,
Ordnung ist die andre Hälfte, nur mit Ordnung hat das Leben Sinn.
Gehorsam dienen, Pflicht und Macht.
Alles muß geregelt sein, wenn es geht auch Tag und Nacht,
So nur kann der Staat gedeih′n.
Pünktlich morgens aufzustehen und sich in die Schar zu reih'n,
Die dann froh zur Arbeit gehen, so muß die Gemeinschaft sein,
Straßen bau′n und reparieren, Hand in Hand und Frau und Mann,
Und mit Sauberkeit sich zieren, daß man sich drin spiegeln kann.

To get up punctually in the morning and join the crowd,
Who then happily go to work, that's how the community must be,
Building and repairing roads, hand in hand, men and women,
And adorn themselves with cleanliness, so that they can see themselves mirrored in it.
