Natural Light to me is such an interlude, you know, uh
It, it, to me it's kind of an homage
Especially the intro
To the years that I spent making stuff that they were calling IDM
Back in the day the-
The much more aligned name for, you know, intelligent dance music, back then
Uhm, just lots of glitches, you know, effects square push through that whole
Initial names and all that stuff

Uhm, and yeah, I wanted, I liked a lot of those rhythms
And just almost arbitrarily cut up, uh, loops
And, I thought it would be cool to have like, I don't know, another kind of late sounding
Sassy, soul, semi-soulful beat mixed with that IDM stuff from my childhood
And, that bell melody, yeah
The pun, pun-pun-pun
Pun-pun-pun-pun
That's just a sad melody to me

When, when I hear it, I think of
I don't know, I think of like Gorillas or something
You know, there's something very, kind of
Not mournful, it's not grieving
It's not that kind of sadness
It's melancolic coke, it's like, uh, idle sadness to me

In fact idle sadness or idle longing
Was the name as a tentative song title that-
That never actually got used 'cause it was embarrassing
But uh, yeah, that bell melody is a little special to me
And it's, it's unique, it's not upfront, it's shy

Natural Light ist für mich so ein Zwischenspiel, weißt du, äh
Es, es ist für mich irgendwie eine Hommage
Besonders das Intro
An die Jahre, in denen ich Sachen gemacht habe, die sie IDM nannten
Damals das-
Der viel passendere Name für, weißt du, Intelligent Dance Music, damals
Ähm, einfach viele Glitches, weißt du, Effekte, die durch das Ganze durchgejagt wurden
Anfangsnamen und all das Zeug

Ähm, und ja, ich wollte, ich mochte viele dieser Rhythmen
Und einfach fast willkürlich zerschnittene, äh, Loops
Und ich dachte, es wäre cool, so etwas wie, ich weiß nicht, einen anderen, irgendwie spät klingenden
Frechen, souligen, halb-souligen Beat gemischt mit diesem IDM-Zeug aus meiner Kindheit
Und, diese Glockenmelodie, ja
Das Pun, Pun-Pun-Pun
Pun-Pun-Pun-Pun
Das ist für mich einfach eine traurige Melodie

Wenn, wenn ich sie höre, denke ich an
Ich weiß nicht, ich denke an so etwas wie Gorillaz oder so
Weißt du, da ist etwas sehr, irgendwie
Nicht schwermütig, es ist kein Trauern
Es ist nicht diese Art von Traurigkeit
Es ist ein melancholischer Mantel, es ist wie, äh, müßige Traurigkeit für mich

Tatsächlich war müßige Traurigkeit oder müßiges Verlangen
Der Name als vorläufiger Songtitel, der-
Der nie wirklich benutzt wurde, weil er peinlich war
Aber äh, ja, diese Glockenmelodie ist etwas Besonderes für mich
Und sie ist, sie ist einzigartig, sie ist nicht vordergründig, sie ist schüchtern
