′Yaa man sātufāriqu dunyāka
Mādhā A'dat′ta li ukhroka
Hal kunta taqīyyā wa muti'a
Am hubbu dunyā a'maaqā ′

Hal kūntalmā la tujammiùhū
Wa ala shahawāti tudayùhū
Am lil fūqaraā′i tuwazziùhū
Tabgī ajra' min mawlākā

Yaa man sātufāriqu dunyāka
Mādhā A′dat'ta liukhrāka
Hal kunta taqīyyā wa motīaā
Am hubbu dunyā a′maaqā

Hal kunta tuaādī Tā'àtik
Min sawmin aw mīn shalawātik
Am kunta bi′kulliī awqātik
Tab'an lilfasādil adgākā -'

Hal kunta taqīyyā wamotīaā
Am hubbu dunyā a'maaqā

Man kāna kafōora′wa ásiyyā
Khasira'l Ākhirata ma′áddunyaā
Fil qabri yu'addhābo yawmiyyā
Wa morā duhā hadā wahunākaā -′

Oh my sweetheart you are leaving this world
What have you prepared for your afterlife
Were you pious and obedient
Or did worldly love make you blind

Were you too reluctant to give charity
And too prone to follow your desires
Or did you distribute your wealth to the poor
Seeking reward from your Lord

Did you regularly perform your prayers
Fast and give charity
Or did you spend all your time
Engaged in sinful activities

Those who were ungrateful and rebellious
Shall lose both this world and the Hereafter
In the grave they will be tormented daily
And both here and in the Hereafter they will be humiliated
