Weu da war a Sensenmann mit ana Maskn wie der Tod
Der lockte ber's Mikrofon die Leut' heran:

I wollt' scho sagn:"Jetzt wll i z'aus"
Da lacht der Grovater mi aus
Steht stramm und sagt:"Wie ma als Mann
Vor'm Tod nur Angst hab'n kann?"

"Was soll scho sei", hab i ma denkt
Und hab eahm scho mein Teddy geb'n
Steig ein in'd Geisterbahn
I wer's scho berleb'n
Die Tr geht auf - I hr an Schrei
Dann hab' i ma in d'Hosn g'macht
Es steigt a Toter aus'n Sarg
A Henker hebt sei Beil und lacht

Auf amoi gibt's an Riesenknall
Und an totalen Stromausfall
Dann hab i glaubt, dass i dafrier:
Dann steht der Tod mit aner Lampen hinter mir

Der Grovater war kreidebleich
Er hat si groe Sorgen g'macht
Mei Hosen war zwar voll
Und trotzdem hab i wia a Hutschpferd g'lacht
Dann hab i g'sagt:
"Man glaubt es nicht
Opa du hast recht
Wia man als Mann
Vor'm Tod nur Angst hab'n kann"

The Ghost Train

On the last day of school, no matter,
How bad the grades were
Grandpa took me to the Prater
First he scolded, then I promised him
That I'd try harder from now on
Soon I was sitting on a carousel

My God, what a life that was
It couldn't be better in heaven
There was cotton candy
Because no mother was there
The highlight every year was
A giant teddy bear
Because he was the best shot in the military

It was the best day of the year
Even better than Christmas
I rode everything, except the ghost train
Because there was a Grim Reaper with a mask like Death
He lured people in over the microphone:

"Greetings, I am Death
There's no one who doesn't know me
There's no alley you can escape
I'm not good, I'm not bad
I only take you to paradise
Or to hell
As you deserve it."

I was about to say: "I want to get out"
Then Grandpa laughed at me
Stood tall and said: "How can a man
Only be afraid of death?"

"What could happen", I thought
And I already gave him my teddy bear
Get on the ghost train
I would survive
The door opens - I hear a scream
Then I wet my pants
A dead man rises from the coffin
An executioner raises his axe and laughs

Suddenly there's a huge bang
And a total power outage
Then I thought I was freezing:
Then Death stands behind me with a lamp

"Greetings, I am Death
Our power supply is acting up
I am the one who knows the way out
Give me your hand, you don't have to cry
I love all children
Then he took off the mask
And he grinned:
"So you'll recognize me later"

Grandpa was pale as a ghost
He was very worried
My pants were wet
And yet I laughed like a hyena
Then I said:
"You wouldn't believe it
Grandpa, you're right
How can a man
Only be afraid of death"
