Voller Mond, noch einmal voller Übermut
Übermut tut manchmal gut.
Voller Mond, man spürt wie sich der Brustkorb hebt.

Es zieht ihn hin wo immer seine Feinde sind,
Zuviel Licht macht Pfauen blind.

Man küßt ihn zahm
Und schüttelt seine Flügel lahm,
Weil Pfauen keiner was gönnt.
Des Pfauen weite Schweifigkeit
Verdammte ihn zur Minderheit.

Voller Mond und völlig ohne Zeitgefühl,
Innen so heiß, außen so kühl,

Full Moon

The old peacock's wheels are failing him,
He has unlearned so much.
He let himself go and some proud feathers
Have been cruelly removed from him.
No envy, no hunger that compels him,
Just an instinct here and there.

Full moon, once again full of exuberance,
Exuberance sometimes does good.
Full moon, you feel your chest rise.
It's almost as if you were alive.
It draws him to wherever his enemies are,
Too much light blinds peacocks.

They tamely kiss him
And shake his wings lame,
Because no one begrudges a peacock anything.
The peacock's vast train
Condemned him to a minority.

Full moon and completely without a sense of time,
So hot inside, so cool outside,
Full moon, you feel your chest rise.
It's almost as if you were alive,
Full moon, once again full of exuberance.
