Se encontraron los dos alazanes

El fuereño saco una moneda
Y la hizo girar por el aire
"Si me salgo con vida del duelo
Pido sol porque muera la Carmen"
El chiquillo voltio la moneda
De ese modo salvando a su madre

Pero ahora faltaba lo peor
Dos rivales tenían que matarse
El chiquillo adoraba al tutor
Rara la vez respetaba a su padre
Se inquietaba siniestra en el quiosco
Una sombra de muerte implacable

Se apartaron los dos, veinte pasos
El tutor en el niño pensaba
"A su padre no puedo matar
Él talvez con el tiempo me odiará"
Cuando a punto se vio que sacaron
El dejo su pistola enfundada

Se escuchó detonar un disparo
Con el eco de un grito en la calle
Relincharon también los caballos
Y un chiquillo se ahogaba en su sangre
Le gritaba el fuereño llorando
"Hijo mío, ¿por qué te cruzaste?"

Él quería salvar a los dos
Y por eso su vida entregaba
Le cubría su pecho el tutor
Con la mueca del llanto en la cara
Mientras que un alazán se llevaba
A un jinete vacío del alma

The Two Bay Horses

The two bay horses met
At the corner of the town park
Their riders, being rivals
Glared at each other fiercely
A boy hid in the grass
Trembling with fear

The stranger took out a coin
And flipped it in the air
"If I come out of this duel alive
I pray for sun to kill Carmen"
The boy flipped the coin
Thus saving his mother

But now came the worst part
Two rivals had to kill each other
The boy adored his guardian
Rarely did he respect his father
An ominous shadow of implacable death
Lurked in the kiosk

They took twenty paces
The guardian thought of the boy
"I cannot kill his father
Perhaps in time he will hate me"
When they were about to draw
He left his pistol holstered

A shot rang out
With the echo of a scream in the street
The horses neighed
And a boy lay drowning in his blood
The stranger cried
"My son, why did you intervene?"

He wanted to save both of them,
And so he gave his life
The guardian covered his chest
With a grimace of tears
While a bay horse carried away
A rider empty of soul
