Nichts ist so erlabend
Wie ein Elternabend
Und gar nichts macht mich strahlender
Als die Aussicht im Kalender

Nichts ist so gewaltsam
Nett und unterhaltsam
Und wer das nicht kennt
Der hat sein Dasein echt verpennt

Es macht froh zu fragen
Schön ist's was zu sagen
Klassenzimmerluft erhitzen
Auf zu kleinen Stühlen sitzen

Interesse kundtun
Man setzt sich ins Halbrund nun
Und einer schreibt ein Protokoll
So wie es sein soll voll

Eine Tagesordnung habend
Kommt der Elternabend
Zu Punkt eins ein wenig später
Die Wahl der Elternvertreter

Jetzt heißt es, sich ducken
Sich tot stell'n, nicht aufmucken
Bis es einen ander'n getroffen hat
Puh! Das ging ja noch mal glatt

Anwesenheitsliste
Da'e und Vermisste
Die Hand unterm Tisch wandern lassen
In alte Pausenbrote fassen

Reden, schwafeln, stammeln
Für die Klassenkasse sammeln
Und alle fassen den Beschluss
Dass was geschehen muss

Dann wird es hochtrabend
Auf dem Elternabend
Der Lehrkörper erklärt die Logik
Und den Sinn der Pädagogik

Hier ein Kichern, da ein Gähnen
Da puhlt einer in den Zähnen
Alles schläft und einer spricht
Genau wie einst im Unterricht

Das Beste kommt zum Ende
Nämlich die Elternspende
Dann der Höhepunkt, Verschiedenes
Unnöt'ges, Unterbliebenes

Und einer sagt ganz richtig
Wir Eltern sind sehr wichtig
Da spart keiner mit Applaus
Und dann ist der Elternabend aus

Nichts ist so erlabend
Wie ein Elternabend
Das schönste am Kinderhaben
Ist abends in die Schule traben

Wenn ich mit Freizeit meine Zeit vergeude
Zehr ich noch lange von der Freude
Und von der Hoffnung die mir keiner nimmt
Der nächste Elternabend kommt bestimmt

Nothing is so refreshing
As a parents' evening
And nothing makes me shine more
Than the view in the calendar

Nothing is so violent
Nice and entertaining
And if you don't know this
You have really missed out on your existence

It makes you happy to ask
It's nice to have something to say
Heat up the classroom air
Sit on small chairs

Express interest
You now sit down in the semi-circle
And someone writes a protocol
As it should be full

Having an agenda
The Eltern evening comes
A little later at point one
The election of the parents' representatives

Now it is said, to duck
Play dead, don't buck up
Until it has hit someone else

Just like in class

The best comes at the end
Namely the parents' donation
Then the high point, miscellaneous
Unnecessary, omitted

And one says quite rightly
We parents are very important
No one spares with applause
And then the parents' evening is over

Nothing is so reviving
As a Eltern evening
The nicest thing about having children
In the evening to go to school

When I waste my time with leisure
I still live long on the joy
And on the hope that no one will take from me
The next Eltern evening will definitely come
