Am Nachmittag stellt sie mir oft eine Tasse Kaffee neben meine Schreibmaschine

Ich schreib' weiter, grade so, als ob die Frage nicht an mich gerichtet war
Und sie sagt, dass sie mich mit dem Rätsel bei der Arbeit ganz bestimmt nicht stören wollte
Ich verschreib' mich, sie steht auf und lacht und streicht mit beiden Händen durch mein Haar

Manchmal ärgert sie die Unordnung, dann räumt sie von der einen auf die and're Seite

Und sie singt und lacht, ist niemals pünktlich, und an jedem Morgen schwimmt das Badezimmer

I Think That's How She Is

In the afternoon she often places a cup of coffee next to my typewriter
Black with a spoonful of sugar, and I drink and she asks me what I'm writing
And I mumble an answer, and she takes a stack of old magazines
Sits down and starts looking for what crossword puzzles are still to be solved
