Man rief zum Djihad, zu heiligen Kriege
Und zog von Medina und Mekka aus
Nach Palästina, zu christlichen Wiege
Und auch bis nach Tunis und Spanien hinaus
Mit Flammen und Schwert und ähnlichen Dingen
Das Heil des Islams den Menschen zu bringen
Man hat mit dem Halbmond das Kreuz verdrängt
Und er das nicht wollte, der wurde gehängt

Das ließ die Ritter des Kreuzes nicht rasten
Und um das Jahr Tausend, da war es soweit
Da zog man mit Pferden, mit Waffen und Kasten
Zum Kreuzzuge aus, zu heiligen Streit
Mit Feuer und Schwert, so bringt man nun jenen
Erlösung von Türken und Sarazenen
Und wer nicht dem Siege des Kreuzes enteilt
Der wird mit dem Schwert in zwei Teile geteilt

Warum kämpft man immer nur gegen die Heiden

Drum führt man Krieg um die Konfession
