أحبّك حبّيْن حُبّ الهوى
وحُبّاً لأنك أهلٌ لذاك
فأما الذي هو حُبّ الهوى
فشغلي بذكرك عمّن سواك

إلا اذا ما حدّثوا بحلاك
ولما علمت بأن قلبي فارغ
ممَن سواك . ملأته بهواك
وملأت كلّي منك حتى لم

A human love and a divine love
As for that which is human love
It is the preoccupation with your memory, to the exclusion of all others
As for that for which you deserve love
It is the unveiling of the veils, until I see you
So neither of these two is praiseworthy
But your praise is in both of them
