El Preso N° 9

Al preso número nueve ya lo van a confesar.
Está rezando en la celda con el cura del penal.
Porque antes de amanecer la vida le han de quitar.
Porque mató a su mujer y a un amigo desleal.
Dice así: al confesor
Los maté sí señor
Y si vuelvo a nacer.
Yo los vuelvo a matar.
Padre no me arrepiento ni me da miedo la eternidad.
Yo sé que allá en el cielo el ser supremo me ha de juzgar.
Voy a seguir sus pasos voy a buscarlos al más allá.

El preso número nueve era hombre muy cabal.
Iba en la noche del duelo muy contento a su jacal.
Pero al mirar a su amor en brazos de su rival.
Sintió en su pecho un dolor y no se pudo aguantar.
Al sonar el clarín
Se formó el pelotón.
Y rumbo al paredón.
Se oyó al preso decir.

Inmate No. 9

They're going to make the confession of Inmate Number Nine now.
He's praying in his cell with the chaplain of the prison.
Because they're going to take his life before dawn.
Because he killed his wife and a disloyal friend.
He says this to the priest:
Yes, I killed them, sir.
And if I were born again,
I would kill them again.
Father, I have no regrets and I don't fear eternity.
I know that up in heaven, the Supreme Being will judge me.
I'm going to follow in their footsteps and seek them in the afterlife.

Inmate Number Nine was a very honorable man.
He was walking home to his hut after a duel, filled with joy.
But when he saw his love in the arms of his rival,
He felt a pain in his heart and couldn't bear it.
When the bugle sounded,
The firing squad formed up,
And on the way to the wall,
You could hear the inmate say:
Father, I have no regrets and I don't fear eternity.
