Morgens früh um kurz nach acht – reißt mich aus der Nacht

Schlaftrunken und voll schlapp – heb' ich den Hörer ab
Und bevor ich etwas sagen kann – fängt sie schon an
Eine mir genau wohl bekannte Frau sagt sodann:

"Mein Sohn, wo hast du denn gesteckt? – Sag', hab' ich dich
Etwa geweckt? – Na ja, ist auch einerlei, na sag' wie geht's
Dir denn mein Kleiner?" hör' ich aus meinem Telefon

"Sag' wie geht's eigentlich Janine oder hieß sie Jacqueline
Du weißt, diese kleine Süße, bestell' ihr doch Grüße!"
Es bleibt jeder Mann sein ganzes Leben lang
Wohl immer Mutter's kleiner Sohn

"Hi Mum, schön dass du an mich denkst – nein, wach war
Ich schon längst – danke sehr es geht mir gut... nein absolut
– Was?... ach so der Hut – den trag' ich halt nun mal

Meine Freundin heißt Nadine – und nicht Janine oder Jacqueline"
Doch das alles hört sie nicht – sie unterbricht
Mich in meinem Satz, das geht bei ihr ratzfatz
Indem sie spricht:

"Mein Sohn, ich sorge mich um dich!
Ernährst du dich auch ordentlich? – Komm' doch wieder mal
Vorbei! – Na, ich vermiss dich so mein Kleiner
Und bring' ruhig deine Wäsche mit

Ich find ja ehrlich dieser Hut – der steht dir einfach nicht so gut."
Ich sag': "Ja Mama ich weiß, das sagtest du bereits."
Man bleibt halt immer Mutters Sohn

The Call

Early in the morning, shortly after eight - my phone wakes me from the night
With a loud ringtone - my phone
And I already know - who's on the other end

Sleepy and totally beat - I pick up the receiver

A woman I know all too well says:

"My son, where have you been? - Tell me, have I
