Zu weit entfernt von der Natur - für Häuptling Winnetou
Ich kam mit Zöpfen in die Klasse, alle wollten meinen Skalp

Er dachte dass ich schlafe doch ich hörte wie er weint
Er kämpfte Nächtelang mit einarmigen Banditen
Aber verlor jedes mal und sie raubten uns die Miete
Als dann der Sherrif kam, war Papa grad nicht da
Sie nahm' mich mit, sperrten mich ins Reservat
Ich schickte Rauchzeichen, SOS, ich bin gefangen
Papa grub das Kriegsbeil aus, rettete mich aus den Flammen
Auf der Flucht durch die Prärie, hatte ich das Rennen satt
Ich war zu Alt dafür und zog alleine in die Stadt
Machte 'ne Ausbildung, raus aus der Fantasie
Und aus dem Wilden Westen wurde wieder Ost-Berlin
Wenn ich heut' an Papa denke, stell ich mir vor
Wie er mit vollem Kopfschmuck kommt, durch unser Gartentor
Mit den alten Abenteuern, neuen Berichten
Ich hör ihm einfach zu und glaube den Geschichten

Pigeon feathers on our heads and usually nothing in our stomachs
We ran out of the grocery store with the loot
And in the evening we danced around the pan like shamans
Indians have no money, we often slept in a tent

I had no time to play computer games
On the road with bow and arrow, tracking in the forest
The Wild Wild West starts behind Rahnsdorf
Sit-in on the tracks, we stopped the train
And I only went to school once in a while
Too far away from nature - for Chief Winnetou
I came to class with braids, everyone wanted my scalp
The teacher told me you're too old for this nonsense
They put me at the stake almost every week
But I have a warrior's heart, Indians know no pain

We used to look out at the world from up here

There is still a treasure in the Müggelsee

Firewater quickly became Papa's enemy
He thought I was sleeping but I heard him crying
He fought one-armed bandits all night long
But he lost every time and they stole our rent
When the Sheriff came, Papa was gone
They took me away and locked me in the reservation
I sent smoke signals, SOS, I'm trapped
Papa dug up the war hatchet and rescued me from the flames
On the run through the prairie, I had had enough of running
I was too old for this and went to the city alone
Did an apprenticeship, got out of the fantasy
And the Wild West turned into East Berlin again
When I think of Papa today, I imagine
How he comes through our garden gate with a full headdress
With the old adventures, new stories
I just listen to him and believe the stories
