A Piece of Flesh in the Land of Skeletons

Every poem written for yesterdays with no tomorrow,
And every thought turned poet, every word put to pen,
Always darkness was told in songs, not the light of day,
Staggering lives, a clear image of sorrow.
You made love with loneliness, the darkness always pitch black,
And waited for the birth pangs of the sun in the sky.
An unborn child was to be born, every light a sad magic;
Every tomorrow to be gifted is a spiritual treasure.

My rhymes wrote pessimistically, and my patience was tar black.
I lived truly, fought much with myself,
I wrote, it didn't work, and I fled.

Rap reached out, pulled my ear, said "write!"
A command is an obligation, and you reside at the address of obligation,
This is a petition from God.
It was so hard to portray such a departure,
I turned the pen into a machine, taking squares with every scratch,
I presented it before the Creator and waited for an answer,
My call remained unanswered, I cried out.
