Ecce gratum et optatum
Ver reducit gaudia:
Purpuratum floret pratum,
Sol serenat omnia.
Iam iam cedant tristia!
Estas redit nunc recedit,
Hiemis sevitia.
Iam liquescit et descrescit
Grando, nix et cetera;
Bruma fugit, et iam sugit
Veris tellus ubera.
Illi mens est misera,
Qui nec vivit nec lascivit
Sub estatis dextera!
Gloriantur et letantur
In melle dulcedinis,
Qui conantur, ut utantur
Premio Cupidinis.
Simus iussu Cypridis gloriantes et letantes
Pares esse Paridis!

See, now joy and pleasures we salute
Spring's return, with merry foot
Glowing mead, in colours bright,
Sunny rays, with cheerful light.
Hence, now fly, grim sorrow, fly!
Winter's gone, with weeping eye,
Frosty reign and bitter cold,
Melt and fade, like tales of old.
Hail, sweet spring, Earth's bosom bare
Drinks thy dew, and blooms most fair.
Sad's the heart, that wakes not glad
Wholesome pleasures when they're had:
Meet the sunshine's jolly ray,
Laugh and sing, while yet we may.
Gloriously we greet thee, Spring,
Sweetest songs and praises sing,
Quaff thy joy, thy nectar sip,
Kiss thy ruby lip to lip.
Cypris bids us merry be,
Sports and loves we'll share with thee,
