El Hip Hop fue inventado por gente que era oprimida: morenos,
Africanos, latinos que eran oprimidos,
Que queríamos hacer música de fiesta para que nos olvidaramos de la
Miseria que tenía que vivir la gente, pero también,
Fue música de protesta, música de revolución,
Que habló lo que verdaderamente estaba pasando,
En qué corrupto que estaba el Gobierno,
Y si yo no tengo la libertad económica entonces no tengo la libertad
Política, si no tengo la libertad para hacer lo que yo quiero con el
Negocio mío, entonces controlan la Cultura,
Y eso es lo que yo veo por todo
Estados Unidos y por toda Latino América.
La Cultura controlada y la gente que se ve por ojos que no son suyos.
Lo que yo les diría es que sí va a tener control,
Y se va a llamar Hip Hop, entonces,
Tienen con tomar en cuenta que si ellos no controlan,
No va hacer su música,
Siempre va hacer la palabra de otro, que está cantada por ellos.
El Hip Hop vino para reunir a toda la gente: que sea blanca,
Que se negra, que sea china, de cualquier parte del mundo,
Lo pueden expander a otros sitios,
Pero lo que destruyó y lo que está destruyendo el Hip Hop ahora es
Que la gente no se habla, se cree tan grande y tan "más que nosotros",
Que ni si quiera se quieren juntar con otros,
O ¡solamente los llaman cuando los necesitan!
Pero, lo que necesitamos hacer es juntarnos en una manera que habla a
Un negocio, que habla a la cultura,
Que habla de lo que verdaderamente está pasando en éste país.

Interlude Subculture Hip Hop

Hip Hop was invented by people who were marginalized: brown,
Black, Latino people who were marginalized,
Who wanted to make party music so we could forget about the
Misery that people had to live in, but also,
It was protest music, it was revolutionary music,
That spoke on the real shit,
On how corrupt the government is,
And if I don't have economic freedom, I don't have political
Freedom, if I don't have freedom to do what I want with my
Own business, then they control the culture,
And that's what I see all throughout
The United States and all throughout Latin America.
The culture being controlled and people viewing themselves through eyes that are not their own.
What I would say is if you're gonna have control,
And if it's gonna be called Hip Hop, then,
You have got to take into consideration that if you're not controlling it,
It's not your music,
It's somebody else's lyrics sung by you.
Hip Hop was meant to bring all people together: whether they be white,
Black, Chinese, any part of the world,
You can expand it and bring it to the other places,
But what has broken down and what is breaking down Hip Hop right now is
That people don't talk to each other, they think they're so big and they're so "better than they",
That they don't even wanna come together,
Or they're only calling them when they need them!
But, what we need to do is come together in a way that speaks to
The commerce, that speaks to the culture,
That speaks on the real shit that's going on in this country.
