V′là trois millions d'années que j′dormais dans la tourbe

I've been sleeping in the bog for three million years

That I was terribly gifted at small drawings
Of callipygian Venuses with moonlike nipples

They said that I once lived in a cave
They said so many things, so many curious things
That I was covered in hair and didn't have any underwear
Even though I lived in a suburban house
I was just like everyone else, full of good manners
Every Sunday morning I played the lottery
I wore stiff collars and hernia bandages
That was before the war, before it all blew up

That was about three million years ago now
