Victory to Hanuman

I adorn the lotus feet of Shri Guru
and purify the mirror of my mind.
I sing the pure fame of Raghuvīra (Rama)
who bestows the four fruits of life.
With a body lacking intelligence,
I remember Pavan Kumar (Hanuman).
Grant me strength, wisdom and knowledge,
and remove my sorrows and afflictions.

Victory to Kapisa, illuminator of the three worlds. (2)

Rama's messenger, with immeasurable strength,
Son of Anjani, also known as Pavan Suta.
The great hero, Bajrangi,
Destroyer of bad intellect, companion of good intellect.

Victory to Hanuman, ocean of wisdom and virtue,
Victory to Kapisa, illuminator of the three worlds. (2)

With a golden complexion and splendid attire,
Adorned with earrings and curly hair.
Holding a thunderbolt and a flag,
Wearing a sacred thread of Munja grass on his shoulder.

The son of Kesari, the golden-hued one,
Whose splendor and majesty are revered by the entire world. (2)

Knowledgeable, wise and extremely clever,
Always eager to serve Rama. (2)
Devoted to listening to the Lord's stories, (2)
With Rama, Lakshmana and Sita residing in his heart.
He appeared before Sita in a subtle form,
And burned Lanka assuming a gigantic form.
In his fierce form, he destroyed demons,
And fulfilled all of Ramachandra's tasks.

Victory to Kapisa, illuminator of the three worlds. (2)

He revived Lakshmana with the life-giving herb,
And carried Shri Raghuvīra (Rama) on his shoulders.
Raghupati (Rama) praised him greatly,
Saying, "There is no one as dear to me as you, brother."
The thousand-mouthed Shesha sings your glories,
And so saying, Shripati (Rama) embraced him.

Sanaka and other sages, Brahma and Munis,
Narada, Saraswati and Sheshnag,
Yama, Kubera and all the guardians of directions,
Even poets and scholars cannot fully describe your greatness.

Victory!

You did a great favor to Sugriva,
And helped him regain his kingdom from Rama. (2)

Vibhishana accepted your advice,
And became the Lord of Lanka, known to all the world. (2)

The sun, a thousand Yojana away, (2)
You playfully swallowed it, mistaking it for a sweet fruit.

With the Lord's ring in your mouth,
You crossed the ocean, which is no surprise.
You accomplish the most difficult tasks in the world,
And make them easy with your grace.

Victory to Kapisa, illuminator of the three worlds. (2)

You are Rama's beloved and protector,
And fulfill every wish within my heart.
All happiness is attained by seeking your refuge,
With you as my protector, I have no fear.
Your own power is your own,
And the three worlds tremble before it.

Ghosts and evil spirits dare not come near,
When they hear the name of the great hero.
Diseases are eradicated and all pain is removed,
By constantly chanting the name of the valiant Hanuman.

Victory to Hanuman, ocean of wisdom and virtue,
Victory to Kapisa, illuminator of the three worlds. (2)

Hanuman removes all troubles,
For those who meditate on him with their mind, actions and words. (2)

All the ascetics, saints and kings,
You fulfill all their desires. (2)

Whoever makes any wish, (2)
They attain the immeasurable fruit of life.

Your glory shines throughout the four Yugas,
You are the supreme saint, illuminating the world.
You are the protector of saints and virtuous people,
The destroyer of demons, and Rama's beloved.

Victory to Kapisa, illuminator of the three worlds. (2)

You are the giver of eight Siddhis and nine Nidhis,
This boon was granted to you by Mother Janaki (Sita).
You possess the elixir of Rama's devotion,
And are truly the servant of Raghupati (Rama).
Your worship is pleasing to Rama,
And removes the sorrows of countless lifetimes.
At the end of life, one reaches Raghupati's abode,
And is known as a devotee of Hari in every birth.
One need not worship any other deity,
All happiness is attained through Hanuman.

Troubles are removed and all pain is eradicated,
By remembering the powerful Hanuman.
Victory, victory, victory to Hanuman, the Lord,
Please shower your grace, as you are the Guru's son.
Whoever recites this a hundred times,
Will be freed from bondage and attain great happiness.
Whoever reads this Hanuman Chalisa,
Will attain accomplishment, as witnessed by Gauri's Lord (Shiva).
Tulsidasa, forever your servant,
Please reside in my heart, my Lord.

With an auspicious form,
