كأن نجوماً أومضت في الغياهب
عيون الأفاعي أو رؤوس العقارب
إذا كان قلب المرء في الأمر حائراً
فأضيق من تسعين رحب السباسب
وتشغلني عني وعن كل راحتي
مصائب تقفو مثلها في المصائب
إذا ما أتتني أزمة مدلهمة
تحيط بنفسي من جميع الجوانب
تطلبت هل من ناصر أو مساعد
ألوذ به من خوف سوء العواقب
فلست أرى إلا الذى فلق النوى
هو الواحد المعطى كثير المواهب
ومعتصم المكروب في كل غمرة
ومنتجع الغفران من كل هائب
مجيب دعا المضطر عند دعائه
و منقذه من معضلات النوائب
معيد الورى فى زجرة بعد موتهم
لفصل حقوق بينهم ومطالب
ففى ذلك اليوم العصيب ترى الورى
سكرى ولا سكر بهم من مشارب
حفاة عراة خاشعين لربهم
فيا ويح ذى ظلم رهين المطالب
فيأتوا لنوح والخليل وآدم
وموسى وعيسى عند تلك المتاعب
لعلهم أن يشفعوا عند ربهم
لتخليصهم من معضلات المتاعب
فما كان يغني عنهم عند هذه
نبي ولم يظفرهم بالمآرب

Eyes of the Snakes

As if stars flickered in the depths
Eyes of the snakes or heads of scorpions
When a man's heart is perplexed in the matter
Then ninety spacious tracts become narrower
And you preoccupy me from myself and from all my comfort
Calamities follow each other in calamities
When a catastrophic crisis comes to me
Surrounding my soul from all sides
I seek is there a supporter or a helper
I resort to him for fear of the evil consequences
So I see nothing but the one who cracked the seed
He is the one, the giver, the one with many talents
And the refuge of the distressed in every flood
And the resort of forgiveness from every fear
The answerer of the supplication of the needy when he prays
And his rescuer from the dilemmas of misfortunes
He who restores the world in a roar after their death
To settle the rights and demands among them
So on that difficult day, you will see the people
Drunk, but no drunkenness in them, from drinks
Barefoot, naked, submissive to their Lord
Alas for the oppressed, who is a prisoner of demands
So they come to Noah, the friend of God, and Adam
And Moses and Jesus at those troubles
So that they may intercede with their Lord
To deliver them from the dilemmas of troubles
For what would benefit them at this
A prophet, and did not grant them their ambitions
