When the World Ends

For example, if the world were to end tomorrow,
I would at least like to leave three letters behind.

One letter is to my parents who raised me,
I would simply like to write "Thank you" over and over,
in the most conventional way.

While staring at a faded photograph,
I want to remember the many nights we talked,
and the several times I've seen the gentle tears in your eyes,
For the sake of carrying that pride until my dying breath,
that I was undoubtedly your son.

The second letter is to my irreplaceable friends,
I would simply like to write "Thank you" in the most conventional way,
and in the post script, I would like to write this just once.

Thinking back on it now, I was nothing but a happy student,
When I close my eyes and recall those moments,
my friends' smiles from back then come to mind.

Sunburned and brimming with pride,
I ran along that path,
Looking back while walking ahead. Just because it was you, just because it was you that I

was able to keep believing, I am filled with pride,
The reason I was able to spend such radiant days,
is because you were there for me.

The last letter has no name,
On a familiar piece of paper, I will write "Goodbye" in black ink,
I only want to write those two words.

I will drink my usual liquor on a usual night,
on my usual chair, in my usual manner,
I wish to spend that time in silence.

Eventually, the wind will stop blowing. Stars will be engulfed in flames and begin to fall.
When the world ends, somewhere in the world, a bell will chime.

I will embrace the shoulders of my darling,
I will quietly meet my end on that street corner where we made memories.

While I hold you in my arms,

I will peacefully pass away...
