As the times change and pass by,
Unchanging, there are things that matter most.
The Earth turns, somewhere around it today,

That is, respect and love.
That record shop in front of the station is now a parking lot,
When did the familiar scenery become faded?
Somehow it appeared narrower and more distant,
What do I think, having left my hometown?
Gratitude? Or perhaps loneliness?
The fast-paced changes of the big city,
Chasing my dreams in a small, rented room,
Amidst the flashy cityscape and zelkova trees,
I walk alone, shoulders squared.
The figure reflected in the shop window,
I compare it to my former self.
Anxiety, anticipation, joy, self-loathing,
Days of struggling with worries about the future,
How would I appear to that guy who yearned for this?
Experiences and growth, along with the changing worries, dreams, and friends,
Caught between ideals and reality, my mind becomes rigid.
The city I longed for, since coming here, has tempted me,
Tasting true regret, and emptiness, I regret it now.
As the times change and pass by,

I used to blame others, sometimes even hurting my friends,
Blaming my family's trauma, giving up made it a little easier
But my heart became bitter and rotten, I too had such self-destructive tendencies
I can't let life end like this
Never forget, always challenge
My pride is like a booger, tiny, dirty, and grotesque,
I don't need it.
It's really only hard at first.
My ideology, fashion, job, and even the girls I like are different from 10 years ago,
But one thing I've been holding onto since then,
Is living life as a challenger.
Setbacks and successes, in their wake, the tears I shed are a treasure for life,
No matter how much I'm ridiculed, I'll keep sharpening my blade.
Because I came to this city,
I've realized the bond I've had all along, something that will never change
Strength rises again within me.
