Vela esticada
Chuva e sol, frio e calor
E eu me sinto um pescador
Puxando a rede pesada
E a cad encia compassada
Da jangada balançando
Minha ciranda embalada

É balanço de maré
Quando vem, forma um balé
Quando vai carrega areia
Me arrudêia
Um temporal carrancudo
Quando vai, carrega tudo
E quando volta incendeia
E a poesia vadêia
Igualmente um bumerangue
E em cada gota de sangue
Que corre na minha veia

Cantar ciranda
É como um jogo de azar
Quando eu saio pra cantar
Não sei se amanheço o dia
Patifaria
Não me atinge o coração
Pois eu tenho a proteção
De um poder que me irradia
E uma trombeta anuncia
Que o mundo está se abalando
Toda vez que eu estou tragando
No cachimbo da poesia

Só pode ser
Coisa de feitiçaria
Arrilia do sotaque
É tão bom que até arrepia

É como fotografia
Faz morada na memória
Desde o primeiro dia

Singing ciranda
Is like going on an adventure
To live on the high seas
Fishing on a raft
Sails hoisted
Rain and sun, cold and heat
And I feel like a fisherman
Hauling in a heavy net
And the measured cadence
Of the rocking raft
My ciranda is lulling

Singing ciranda
Is the swaying of the tides
When it comes, it forms a ballet
When it goes, it carries away sand
It consoles me
A frowning storm
When it goes, it carries everything
And when it returns, it sets fire
And poetry wades through
Like a boomerang
And in every drop of blood
That runs through my veins

Singing ciranda
Is like a game of chance
When I go out to sing
I don't know if I'll see the dawn
Roguery
Doesn't touch my heart
Because I have the protection
Of a power that radiates through me
And a trumpet announces
That the world is shaking
Every time I am taking
From the pipe of poetry

It can only be
A thing of witchcraft
The thrill of the accent
Is so good that it gives me goosebumps

Is like photography
It makes a home in the memory
