Der Eierbecher

Es war mal ein Eierbecher,
Das war ein besonders fescher.
Schön aus Holz und bunt bemalt,
Anders als die Andern halt.

Hatte jeden Frühstücksmorgen immer seine gleichen Sorgen:
Niemand stellt ihn auf den Tisch,
Und er weinte bitterlich.

"Warum seh ich nie ein Ei?
Ja was wär denn schon dabei?
Mich doch auch mal zu benutzen,
Statt mich immer nur zu putzen.
Das ist mir nicht einerlei.
Ich will auch mal so ein Ei!"

Da sprang ein Hahn aufs Fensterbrett
Das machte er nicht selten.
Er fand den Eierbecher nett,
Drum fing er an zu schelten.

"Warum siehst du nie ein Ei?
Ja was wär denn schon dabei?
Dich doch auch mal zu benutzen,
Statt dich immer nur zu putzen.
Das ist dir nicht einerlei.
Du willst auch mal so ein Ei!"

Der Hahn griff sich das bunte Ding
Und flog damit zum Nesthuhn.
"Nun gib doch mal dem Kummerling
Ein Ei zu oben reintun!"

"Denn er sieht ja nie ein Ei!
Ja was wär denn schon dabei?
Ihn doch auch mal zu benutzen,
Statt ihn immer nur zu putzen.
Das ist ihm nicht einerlei.
Er will auch mal so ein Ei!"

Das Huhn gab ihm verschmitzt ein Ei,
Da hörte man's schon krachen.
Das ei ihn ihm sprang laut entzwei,
Das Huhn fing an zu lachen.

Plötzlich saß im Eierbecher
Ein ganz kleiner Hahn, ein frecher.
Ach, wie sah das niedlich aus
Kückenmann sah stolz herraus.
Hat ein Eierbecherbettchen
Wenn das alle Kücken hättchen.
Eierbecher fand das toll,
Wusste endlich was er soll.

Denn er sah ja nie ein Ei.
Ja was wär denn schon dabei?

Egg Cup

Once upon a time, there was an egg cup,
He was particularly handsome.
Beautiful, made of wood and colorfully painted,
Different from the others.

Every breakfast morning, he always had the same worries:
Nobody puts him on the table,
And he cried bitterly.

"Why don't I ever see an egg?
What would be the harm?

This really bothers me.
I want to have an egg, too!"

Then a rooster jumped onto the windowsill,
He did that quite often.
He found the egg cup nice,
So he started scolding.

"Why don't you ever see an egg?

The rooster grabbed the colorful thing
And flew with it to the nesting hen.
"Now give the poor thing
An egg to put inside!"

"Because he never sees an egg!

The hen slyly gave him an egg,
Then you could hear it crack.
The egg in his hand burst open,
The hen began to laugh.

Suddenly, there was a tiny rooster
Sitting in the egg cup, a cheeky one.
Oh, how cute that looked,
Baby rooster looked out proudly.
He has an egg cup bed,
If only all the chicks had one.
Egg cup thought that was great,
Finally, he knew what he was for.

Because he never saw an egg.
