Er fliegt gerade nach Afrika
Die Sonne ist überall vor ihm da
Denkt nicht an ihn, vergisst ihn glatt
Isst sich an seinen Wolken satt

Nun fliegt er traurig vor sich hin
Und ist vor Hunger ganz krumm und dünn
Da lässt die Sonne ihn schnell in Ruh
Und wirklich, der Mond nimmt wieder zu

Tell me, where does the moon fly?
And do you know why it's bending so much tonight?
It was so big and round just recently,
Perhaps it's not quite well, you see.

It's flying straight to Africa,
The sun is everywhere ahead of it, ha!
Doesn't think of it, forgets it completely,
Eats its fill of clouds so sweetly.

Now it flies sadly along its way,
And is quite crooked and thin from hunger, they say.
Then the sun quickly leaves it alone,
And truly, the moon begins to grow, my own.
