Pange língua, gloriósi
Córporis mystérium,
Sanguinísque pretiósi,
Quem in mundi prétium

Fructus ventris generósi
Rex effudit Gentium.

Sing, my tongue, the glorious
Mystery of the Body,
Most precious Blood,
Which for the world's redemption

The noble Fruit of a Virgin's womb
Shed the King of all peoples.
For us He was born,
From the inviolate Virgin,

And in the world He communed,
Sowing the seeds of the Word,
In a wondrous order
He brought His mission to a close.

On the evening of the Last Supper
Reclining at table with His brethren
Having fulfilled the law in all things
Eating lawful food,

He gave Himself as food to the twelve
With His own hands.
The Word made Flesh

Made bread true Flesh:
And the Blood of Christ becomes pure wine,
And if the senses fail,
To strengthen the sincere heart
Faith alone is sufficient.

Therefore let us adore this Sacrament
With humble reverence:
And let the ancient figure
Yield to the new rite:
May faith, then, supply
The defect of the senses.

To the Father, and to the Son
Be praise and jubilation,
Health and honor, virtue too
And blessing be given:
To Him who proceeds from Both
Be equal praise.
