[Six Days Of Madness]

July 16-20, 1916 - six desperate days of the July battles
On the open field near Kekava, in the area where
The March battles took place.
The battle with the Russian regiments gave
1st, 6th and 7th Latvian battalions.

Hot July sun
Still shines brightly
On the bare and the flat
Where soon a fierce blow
Latvian riflemen worry

Oh, quiet Kekava river
Your water still flows clearly
But soon the red color
It will color blood

Oh, the lazy evening wind
Still shaking the leaves of the white birch
Soon under their bare trunks
They will dig brotherly graves

My eyes are still clear
Sweet to see this world
But a dark voice whispers deep-
Soon you will have to close it forever

Gray and rainy dawns July 16
Still silence, but hell will fall at once
And a flood of blood
And many dreams and hopes will come to an end there
When the human bodies grind death harvesters

And then forward, no more room for thought
That you interfere with the flat with a clear mind,
Bullets are shining all around, the earth is trembling and swaying
And someone next to you, falling, still calls for his mother

Howling the whole world turns
A rain of steel from the heavens falls
Trees and earth are smelling
And human limbs fly to them

Air day on the open field
Against barbed wire and machine gunners
Under fire of shrapnel and grenades
The riflemen's run begins

And unstoppable, even though it ends up being futile
Six crazy nights and days
A blow full of rage
Just for the sake of one hope -
To see our homeland free
To let hundreds and thousands live in peace!
