Avenging Lasso

When I took the money back, my gratitude knew no bounds,
I gave 10 conto' to the boys, for their honesty astounds.

As I gave them the money, a man stood watching near,
I continued on my journey, but that scene stayed crystal clear,
My heart sensed something ominous, a premonition of fear.

The further I traveled, the more uneasy I became,
I decided to turn back, drawn by fate's cruel game,
I swear I even cried when I saw what had taken place, ma'am.

The fiend had killed one boy, and stolen the money I'd given,
The other innocent child wept, holding his dead brother, driven to the brink of oblivion.

Where the road curved and dipped, I caught a glimpse of the sight,
The wicked murderer, running to escape from the light.

I spurred my horse onward, and gave chase with all my might,
At a barbed wire fence, when he tried to take flight,
I lassoed that bandit, just like a wild steer in the night.

From there to the police station, I took him bound and tied,
And the dead little boy, in my arms I carried with pride,
I brought his brother along, as a witness to what transpired, beside.

My avenging lasso I handed to the sheriff with care,
To serve as a testament to that sad affair, I swear.
