Когда прозвенел звонок к старту, все лошади казались нетерпеливыми,
Мне показалось, что они не касаются земли, настолько поразительна была их скорость,

Там было полмиллиона человек всех вероисповеданий,
Католики, протестанты, евреи и пресвитериане,
Не было никакой вражды, независимо от убеждений,
Но радушие и гостеприимство располагали даже мистера Пейсли,
