I gotta tell ya, it sounds pretty good to hear Thomas singing
Over some fiddle, and steel guitar on his "Country Again (Side A)" album
And you know, he says it's more about a state of mind
Than it is a lifestyle necessarily, but whatever it is I love the sound of this album so far
And the next song I'd love for you to tell us about Thomas Is "Where We Grew Up"
Which definitely has a bit of nostalgic feel to it

"Where We Grew Up" was written with two of my really good friends
Luke Laird and Josh Miller
And uh, it was really one of the first co-writes that I'd had in person
In a very long time, most of my writes over quarantine were over Zoom
And-and so Luke and Josh came over to the house
And I remember Josh started playing this thing
And he was like, "Man, I wrote this verse and chorus
That I don't know if y'all are gonna like or not"
And he started singing the first verse and the chorus
And me and Luke were like "Dang"

Like those are those awesome, easy days
Where you go in and somebody's already got the bones of something complete
And we just, me and Luke, just kinda help craft the second verse and the bridge
And it just reminded me so much of the town that I grew up in
And how proud you are looking back at the place you grew up
Because when you leave you're kinda like "I never wanna go back there
I never wanna- I'm gonna leave that place in the past"
And then when you start to get a little bit older, you look back at it and you go
"Dang, that place shaped me" that-that place made me, you know the person that I am today
The things I believe in and stand for, the values that I have

And you know, I haven't done anything musically like that since probably my first record
It kinda reminded me of "It Goes Like This" a little bit
Um, in just the production element of it
So um, that was a really fun day, just to kinda get in person with writers again
And to come out with something that you actually record on your record
You know, I'll never forget that day

Ich muss dir sagen, es klingt ziemlich gut, Thomas singen zu hören
Mit etwas Fiddle und Steel-Gitarre auf seinem Album "Country Again (Side A)"
Und weißt du, er sagt, es geht mehr um eine Geisteshaltung
Als unbedingt um einen Lebensstil, aber was auch immer es ist, ich liebe den Klang dieses Albums bis jetzt
Und der nächste Song, über den ich dich gerne erzählen hören würde, Thomas, ist "Where We Grew Up"
Was definitiv ein bisschen nostalgisches Gefühl hat

"Where We Grew Up" wurde mit zwei meiner wirklich guten Freunde geschrieben
Luke Laird und Josh Miller
Und ähm, es war wirklich eines der ersten Co-Writes, das ich persönlich hatte
Seit sehr langer Zeit, die meisten meiner Schreibarbeiten während der Quarantäne waren über Zoom
Und-und so kamen Luke und Josh zu mir nach Hause
Und ich erinnere mich, dass Josh anfing, dieses Ding zu spielen
Und er sagte: "Mann, ich habe diese Strophe und diesen Refrain geschrieben
Ich weiß nicht, ob ihr das mögen werdet oder nicht"
Und er fing an, die erste Strophe und den Refrain zu singen
Und Luke und ich dachten nur "Verdammt"

Das sind diese fantastischen, einfachen Tage
Wo du reinkommst und jemand hat bereits die Grundstruktur von etwas fertig
Und wir, also Luke und ich, haben einfach ein bisschen geholfen, die zweite Strophe und die Bridge zu gestalten
Und es hat mich so sehr an die Stadt erinnert, in der ich aufgewachsen bin
Und wie stolz man ist, wenn man auf den Ort zurückblickt, an dem man aufgewachsen ist
Denn wenn du gehst, denkst du irgendwie: "Ich will nie wieder dorthin zurück
Ich will nie... Ich werde diesen Ort in der Vergangenheit lassen"
Und wenn du dann anfängst, ein bisschen älter zu werden, schaust du darauf zurück und denkst
"Verdammt, dieser Ort hat mich geformt" - dieser Ort hat mich zu der Person gemacht, die ich heute bin
Die Dinge, an die ich glaube und für die ich stehe, die Werte, die ich habe

Und weißt du, ich habe musikalisch so etwas seit meinem ersten Album nicht mehr gemacht
Es hat mich ein bisschen an "It Goes Like This" erinnert
Ähm, einfach im Produktionselement davon
Also ähm, das war ein wirklich lustiger Tag, einfach wieder persönlich mit Autoren zusammenzukommen
Und etwas zu schaffen, das du tatsächlich auf deinem Album aufnimmst
Weißt du, ich werde diesen Tag nie vergessen
