I'm just a man but I stand before you Lord, Your standards are so pure
But I'm sure you've gotta hand it to your boy
Cause as I draw nearer to the mirror of your law
I'm in awe cause now I see myself clearer, like where's the flaws
I'm mean I got flaws in me to an extent
But not as many flaws as some, hint hint
What's with this fellow here bellowing prayers
Melancholy mellow with his head low in tears
Yeah he's probably gotta be a real sinner unlike one like such as I
I trust this guy won't be justified
By his works, look at him lookin' like it hurts to repent
Since when was pain part of penitence
Nah that ain't true, God I thank you
You made me just a little lower than the angels
So I know you must be pleased with my life they say that Jesus is Christ
But who needs him when my deeds are so righteous

Now this man seems to be confident in his works but/
Under the surface we'll see what he has truly worked up/ so
For the Pharisee we'll say its fair to see apparently
He hasn't seen the dirt that he had worked up but/
The mirrors there to behold the man/
He sees a broken mirror not a broken man/
No hope in the Lamb/
The hopes in his hands and so/
Does he meet the standard we know the answers "NO!" 2-timothy brindle, as "the Tax Collector"
God! I've come to Your temple, abundantly sinful,
So Your Judgment is kindled: Your Wrath's displeasure/
But I hear Your Love can extend to rugged and simple men, c
Uz Your Son He was sent for: Tax Collectors/
Sin's defiled my soul, feels insurmountable, but Your abundant grace is bountiful/
I should be crushed and die, and thrust aside for my folly/
But I trust inside, You justify the ungodly (Rom. 4: 5)/
That's what I am, an evil wretch/ so I beat my chest,
Yet the only thing pleasing You is Jesus' death/
On my knees I admit this, I'm the chief of all sinners/
I'm grieved, cuz even my best deeds, they are wicked/
So I seek Your forgiveness, that Jesus can give us/
Since His bleeding is finished, You said He is Sufficient/
I'm a sinner who is cursed completely/ so my only hope is that You'll "mercy-seat" me!
Commentary 2- J'Son
But the other man known as a thief and crook/
Refused to even lift his head to the heavens and look/
He recognizes he can't offer the deeds he has done
To a holy God who would only just see them as dung/
So he beats his chest and cries for mercy/ (Father!)
Lord I'm a sinner no I'm not worthy/
So I tell you that this man will be seen as JUST/
Cause instead of his deeds he looked to Yahweh to place his trust! (Yes!)

Ich bin nur ein Mann, aber ich stehe vor dir, Herr, deine Maßstäbe sind so rein
Aber ich bin sicher, du musst deinem Jungen Anerkennung zollen
Denn während ich mich dem Spiegel deines Gesetzes nähere
Bin ich voller Ehrfurcht, denn jetzt sehe ich mich klarer, wo sind denn die Makel?
Ich meine, ich habe bis zu einem gewissen Grad Makel in mir
Aber nicht so viele Makel wie manche, deutlicher Hinweis
Was ist mit diesem Kerl hier, der lautstark Gebete spricht
Ein schwermütiger Kerl mit gesenktem Kopf in Tränen
Ja, er muss wohl ein echter Sünder sein, anders als einer wie ich
Ich vertraue darauf, dass dieser Kerl nicht gerechtfertigt wird
Durch seine Werke, schau ihn an, es sieht aus, als täte es weh zu bereuen
Seit wann ist Schmerz Teil der Buße
Nein, das stimmt nicht, Gott, ich danke dir
Du hast mich nur ein wenig niedriger als die Engel gemacht
Also weiß ich, dass du mit meinem Leben zufrieden sein musst, sie sagen, dass Jesus der Christus ist
Aber wer braucht ihn, wenn meine Taten so gerecht sind

Nun, dieser Mann scheint zuversichtlich in seine Werke zu sein, aber/
Unter der Oberfläche werden wir sehen, was er wirklich angesammelt hat/ also
Für den Pharisäer sagen wir, es ist fair zu sehen, anscheinend
Hat er den Schmutz nicht gesehen, den er angesammelt hat, aber/
Der Spiegel ist da, um den Mann zu betrachten/
Er sieht einen zerbrochenen Spiegel, keinen zerbrochenen Mann/
Keine Hoffnung im Lamm/
Die Hoffnung liegt in seinen Händen und so/
Erfüllt er den Maßstab? Wir kennen die Antwort: "NEIN!" 2-Timothy Brindle, als "der Zöllner"
Gott! Ich bin zu Deinem Tempel gekommen, überreichlich sündig,
So ist Dein Gericht entfacht: Deines Zornes Missfallen/
Aber ich höre, Deine Liebe kann sich auf raue und einfache Männer erstrecken, d
Enn Dein Sohn, Er wurde gesandt für: Zöllner/
Sünde hat meine Seele befleckt, fühlt sich unüberwindbar an, aber Deine überfließende Gnade ist reichlich/
Ich sollte zerschmettert werden und sterben, und für meine Torheit beiseitegestoßen werden/
Aber ich vertraue innerlich darauf, dass Du die Gottlosen rechtfertigst (Röm. 4:5)/
Das ist, was ich bin, ein böser Elender/ also schlage ich mir an die Brust,
Doch das Einzige, was Dir gefällt, ist Jesu Tod/
Auf meinen Knien gebe ich dies zu, ich bin der größte aller Sünder/
Ich bin betrübt, denn selbst meine besten Taten sind böse/
So suche ich Deine Vergebung, die Jesus uns geben kann/
Da Sein Bluten vollendet ist, sagtest Du, Er genügt/
Ich bin ein Sünder, der völlig verflucht ist/ also ist meine einzige Hoffnung, dass Du mir gnädig bist!

Aber der andere Mann, bekannt als Dieb und Gauner/
Weigerte sich sogar, seinen Kopf zum Himmel zu heben und aufzublicken/
Er erkennt an, dass er die Taten, die er vollbracht hat, nicht anbieten kann
Einem heiligen Gott, der sie nur als Mist ansehen würde/
Also schlägt er sich an die Brust und schreit um Gnade/ (Vater!)
Herr, ich bin ein Sünder, nein, ich bin nicht würdig/
So sage ich dir, dass dieser Mann als GERECHT angesehen werden wird/
Denn statt auf seine Taten schaute er auf Jahwe, um sein Vertrauen zu setzen! (Ja!)
